11th Annual SIB Jazz Fest is back from Nov. 14 – 18, 2018

(Friday, November 9, 2018) – The 11th Annual Sunny Isles Beach Jazz Fest is back this Nov. 14-18, 2018 for five days of concerts and events featuring an assortment of jazz genres. With the theme, Jazz Around the World, award-winning artists from across the globe are gathering in Sunny Isles Beach to bring their own flair to the timeless genre of jazz music.

“This year, we are expanding the event to feature five full days of entertainment and events that everyone will love, even if you are not a jazz enthusiast,” says Sunny Isles Beach Mayor George “Bud” Scholl. “Last year, we saw outstanding success and feedback, and because of our stellar line-up sponsors and partners, this year is going to be even bigger and better.”

Kicking off the week of events on Thursday, Nov. 14 is a free concert with Brazilian jazz group, Jazil Brazz. The concert is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. at Samson Oceanfront Park, 17425 Collins Ave. Jazil Brazz presents original captivating arrangements melding together the Great American songbook with the best of Brazilian music. Hailing from Brazil, the United States, Canada, and Germany, the group features two award-winning singers, two virtuoso seven-string guitarists, and an international rhythm section. Free parking is available on the north side of 174 Street, in the municipal lot behind Walgreens on 175 Terrace, and at the SIB Government Center, 18070 Collins Ave. Stop by the City’s information booth at the event to enter to win two free VIP tickets to main event on Saturday, Nov. 17.

On Thursday, Nov. 15, stop by the Residence Inn Miami Sunny Isles Beach, 17700 Collins Ave., for Jazz on 9, a happy hour from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Happy hour specials include $7 custom cocktails, $4 beer, and $3 wine. Vocal jazz group, Vinyl Blvd, is providing the perfect entertainment to round out the event. Il Mulino New York at the Acqualina Resort & Spa, 17875 Collins Ave., is hosting a “Moment in Time” dinner from 8 to 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. Savor a prix fixe menu with live music by Verdecia Project, a Cuban band encompassing many musical styles, including jazz. The dinner costs $75 per guest. Jazz Fest culminates on Saturday, Nov. 17 for the main concert event beginning at 7 p.m. at Gateway Park, 151 Sunny Isles Blvd. Opening the show is classically-trained musician, Marc Antoine, performing contemporary jazz songs. The second act features international acapella group, Accent, performing jazz classic and contemporary hits. From five different countries, the group discovered their mutual passion for jazz music through the power of the Internet. Headlining Jazz Fest is the DUKES of Dixieland, a New Orleans-based jazz band. The six members of DUKES have performed concerts and festivals around the United States and overseas.

General admission tickets to the main Saturday event are $10; attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Reserved seating tickets include a seat in the reserved section and are $20. VIP tickets are $50 and include seating, food and beverage within the VIP area.
